C4 x Bar Council 2022 Anti-Corruption Forum

In this one-day forum, Jia Yaw participated in a panel discussion on the climate crisis, journalism and the need for greater access to information

The Center to Combat Corruption and Cronyism (C4) collaborated with the Bar Council in organising the 2022 Anti-Corruption Forum.


The forum was organised as a hybrid event, with some attending physically at the Malaysian Bar's Raja Aziz Addruse Auditorium and some participating via Zoom.


One of the three panel discussions focussed on the climate crisis, journalism and the need for better access to information. The panellists were:

  • Watshlah Naidu, executive director of the Centre for Independent Journalism (CIJ)

  • Lao Yao-Hua, co-founder of Macaranga

  • Kiu Jia Yaw, deputy co-chair of the Bar Council Environment & Climate Change Committee

  • Arief Hamizan, legal researcher at C4

  • Tom Devine, legal director of the Government Accountability Project

  • Samantha Feinstein, staff attorney and director, international program, Government Accountability Program

It was moderated by Sudhagaran Stanley, programme manager at C4.
